• Open the readme.html file inside the wordpress folder (this folder is automatically created when we unzip the wordpress files that we have downloaded from wordpress.org earlier).
• On that file, prior to uploading we have to open file wp-config-sample.php with a text editor (I recommend notepad), and then fill in our database connection details (database name, user name, and password) and then save this file as wp-config.php

If you do not do 2 steps above, then after uploading if we go to http://www.yourdomain,com/yournewblog , we will get file not found page !

So I will re-write about manual uploading right from the start!

Ok, because I already use demo1 for uploading using fantastico, so with this manual uploading I’m going to upload the wordpress to demotutorial folder, inside the public_html folder. Therefore after we finished uploading, we can go to http://www.smartmoneymakingwebsite.com/demotutorial to start installing our blog with only several clicks. Very easy. I will show step by step process to do this. and by the way, manual installation is a bit more complicated compare to using fantastico, but we will learn more on using cpanel, creating database etc. ……. and this actually easy to do, let’s get started.

First thing to do, go to our cpanel (look at my previous post about this) and create our database, database user and password.  On cpanel click MySQL icon , we go to this page and create data base :

After clicked “go back” we’ll be taken back to MySQL page, scroll down to create user for this database as follow:

Our next task is to add user to the database and manage user privileges, so, after we get back to MySQL page (look instruction on picture above), we scroll down to get this :

After we clicked “Add” button (see instruction on picture above), we will taken to this page to manage privileges :

We’ve done creating our database, user and password. Only 1 preparation left before we do the uploading. As earlier said, we have unzipped wordpress by extracting the wordpress zipped file, therefore we will have new wordpress folder on our laptop/pc. then do the important notes at the beginning of this post. I’ll show you how, with picture, see below :

After we done this, go ahead upload the wordpress to public_html/demotutorial directory on our server, here’s how we do it :

We have done uploading with complete database settings, so now, if we go to our browser and go to http://www.smartmoneymakingwebsite.com/demotutorial we will arrive at http://smartmoneymakingwebsite.com/demotutorial/wp-admin/install.php and the page look like this :

Type in Our Blog name and e-mail address (we can change them later if needed) then click install, installation will take about 1 second! and we are taken to this page :

Copy the password and then click next, we will be taken to the login page, type admin for username, and paste on the password box, then click login, then we are login at our wordpress back end workplace ! congratulation! our blog is ready.

Important ! first thing we need to do at this back end is click the “admin” on the upper right hand side, and then change the password to your secure but familiar to you.

As I said earlier we need an FTP client software (although we can upload via file manager on cpanel but will take more time, and we have to be careful in organizing the files). Download the FTP client software from filezilla at http://filezilla-project.org/ and then install it on your PC/laptop.

The second step is go to http://wordpress.org/ and go ahead download the current wordpress version ( by the time I write this post, the most current version is Wordpress 2.6.3 ) to your PC in any folder on our PC/Laptop or right at our desktop. I suggest we download the zip file. Then we’re gonna be unzipped it and upload the files to our server using FTP.

Open our FTP software that we have installed, on the upper left corner click “File” and on drop down menu, choose site manager. SInce this is our first time using this, on the site manager box, click “new site” button and enter our ftp host name (ussually ftp.yourdomain.com) and then keep the servertype at FTP, then your logon type to normal, then enter we username and password (the same username and password we use to access cpanel). That’s it, click OK and then connect. We will be taken to this page :

Ok, we’ve been connected to our server using ftp, now what? look at pictures below, and I’ll describe the next step :

So, we’ve inside the public_html box, right click on that box and make a new folder name, this folder name is our addon domain name (http://www.yourdomainname1.com) . In my case, I upload wordpress files of “smartmoneymakingwebsite.com” to the root folder.

Ok, after this, go to our lefthand side box of the filezilla and locate the wordpress files (unzipped files) that we have downloaded earlier.

After we find that folder, left click on that folder, hold your left button and drag the files to the public_html lower box, or to the public_html folder on upper block, just like we do drag and drop on our local PC.

Then wait for the file transfer to be completed, that’s it, we have uploaded our wordpress files.

Are we done and ready to use our blog? not yet, we have to configure several files and databases. Don’t worry it’s pretty easy …. kid stuff! I mean it.

Now, we are going to upload our blog using the fantastic tool …. Fantastico.
This tool is really cool!, it’s very easy to upload a blog (wordpress in our example), it’s automatically configure our data base and user to access that database, so, after the installation completed, we will have a blog ready to fill in with contents, but there’s gonna be only 2 plugins ready (Akismet and Hello Dolly), but to add more plugins for our purposes, is really easy and the choice is on us.

We’re gonna see a lot of pictures in this post, because I think it will be easier for us if we can see the actual of what we expect to appear.

So, let’s go ahead and click that fantastico on your cpanel, it should bring you to this page :

On the left hand site there are plenty of things we can do with this fantastico, but for now we want to upload wordpress …. so click the wordpress link, wich should take us to this page :

Because we are going for the new installation, click that link (shown by arrow on the picture above), wich should take us to this page :

Okay, without too much descriptive words in here, I’ve made notes on the picture to show what we should be doing to get our new blog. In the example, I make a demo1 blog that will be at this domain http://www.smartmoneymakingwebsite.com/demo1 or http://smartmoneymakingwebsite.com/demo1 (both will take us to the exact same place), if you want to see bigger picture, just click at the picture.

Right after you we click the “install wordpress” button, we will be on this page :

From the picture above, we already on step2 from 3 steps we have to do to install the wordpress. On this page, we can see that the fantastico will create MySQL database and it’s user for us, in my example, the database name would be hendarin_wrdp1 and the user also hendarin_wrdp1. So go ahead and click that “finish installation” button that will conclude our installation. This will directly take us to this page :

There we go!, our blog have been build, MySQL database and wp-config.php file have been configured, and the user name and password to access our back end word press is already there (in this example, username is admin and password is 1234567, wich i will change them immediately, for security purposes).

So, in this example, I have a ready new blog that can be access at http://www.smartmoneymakingwebsite.com/demo1 or http://smartmoneymakingwebsite.com/demo1 , it’s just the same place.

To make our blog complete, we have to post our content, change the theme (so our blog will be cute and beautiful), install more plugins (currently we have only 2 plugins), etc. etc. , in short we could do anything we want to make our blog pretty and useful. In order to do this, we have to login to http://www.smartmoneymakingwebsite.com/demo1/wp-admin and then enter our username and password to take us to the back end of our wordpress blog.

That’s conclude our blog installation …. , as I promise, it’s really easy right? no rocket science whatsoever, in fact we don’t need to be a software geek to do this, ianyone can do it, as long as we have a will to do it.
