Several plugins I describe here, are free but amazing in it’s features, very rich and useful. It will presented in random order, therefore the first plugin I discuss, probably is not the most important.

Ok, first  the sticky plugins. This plugin will served us to make our post sticky at the front page, so any announcement you make or a permanent post that you feel important to be at the homepage/frontpage everytime, will always be  at the front page. Any most recent post will be presented under that sticky post.

For example, you can see the “READ ME FIRST” post at http://www.smartmoneymakingwebsite.com that always at the top of the frontpage because of the sticky plugins.

To get the plugins, go to this http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-sticky/ you then download the plugins and upload it to the server ( I have already described how to do these steps on previous post ).

As ussual, after you upload the plugins to the server, you want to go to your wordpress dashbord and the click plugins. You will find the sticky plugins on the lower side of the plugins lists, go ahead activate this plugins

AFter the plugins activated, it will be on the upper side row (I have described this step in details on previous post as well).

Now, to use the plugins to stick the post at the frontpage, I will describe here with picture. For real example I will use the “READ ME FIRST” post on this http://www.smartmoneymakingwebsite.com frontpage.

Here is the picture of that post :

You can see that this post is just the same as other post, I will make sticky with the plugins. If you scroll down on that manage post (in your case is at the lower part of the post you want to stick at the frontpage), you will see this :

There you can see what I did to make my post always stay at the front page.

By using this, you can make important announcement or whatever you feel important to display at the front page, can be done easily.

If you want to cancel the sticky, just uncheck the little box on the sticky box above.

I have already installed the plugins to help do this job in almost instantly, the plugins is “Google Sitemap XML”. In this post I will go a bit deeper, so you will get clear picture on doing this easily.

The first things you need to do is download the plugins, to do this, go to http://www.google.com and then type in the search box : google sitemap wordpress, and you will get this :

Ok, after you click the link (the first link, see the picture), this is the google xml sitemap download page :

After you save it on your PC, unzipped it, and then upload it to your server, using FTP software (I use FileZilla, it’s free). I have discuss in my previous post, how to upload files to your server using FTP software.

If your blog is on main domain, then you would like to upload to public_html/wp-content/plugins folder. In our tutorial, since my demotutorial blog is located at http://www.smartmoneymakingwebsite.com/demotutorial (subdomain), so I upload it to public_html/demotutorial/wp-content/plugins folder.

After this, then login to our blog back end (dashboard) and click on plugins. You will see all the plugins you have. If the plugins were already activated, it will reside on the upper side, if it’s not, it will be on the lower side. So, you will see google sitemap XML plugins on the lower side, go ahead click the “activate” link, it will immediately activate this plugins.

Next step, you want to click settings, and you will see “XML-Sitemap” on the upper bar, that is our google sitemap plugins. click that and you will be on this XML – Sitemaps setting page :

In the picture, you can see that the status section is OK. If there are problems, it will be notify and will be written in red. If you have problems, it is easy to solve, just click “learn more” on the problem specified, and you will be guided on how to solve the problems.

One important note on solving the problems if any, you will be given several options to solve it. My recommendation is choose the safest way, dont choose the options that require to change a folder attibute to 777, it mean that the particular folder will be open for anyone to access, and this is not good for our blog security, and dangerous, just in case some hackers find their way to this folder. So chose another options (don’t worry, there’s always another option), to change the attribute of some files to 777. On my previous post, I have mentioned about changing the files attributes. Simply open your FTP software (e.g Filezilla), connect, then browse in the server side, go to the files that we want to change its attribute, right click on it and the change the attribute to 777. That’s it.

On this sitemaps settings, I literally leave everything as default, but if you want, go ahead scroll down, you can choose to notify yahoo as well.

One more note, before indexing, try to write one or two original post, this will help for faster indexing. On our demotutorial, I have made only 2 post, a welcome post (original) and one short post. And this blog getting indexed by google in the matter of minutes. you can see in the picture below :

This step is needed in order for google to find our blog and get it indexed. so indexing steps is done for our profitable blog.

However, we have still  more interesting works to do, but don’t worry it’s really easy and fun.

If we highlighted we have done so far, it seems that so many things we have done, but take my word on this, try to do it yourself from the start and you will find that doing this probably will only take around one or two hours work, and it will get easier.

Okay, now let’s go back to our tutorial.

One of the most disturbing to any bloggers is SPAM!!! , those SPAM are really pain in the …. .

We should protect our blog from this spammer, what should we do?

I believe, on my previous discussion, I have mentioned about this, but let’s look into this a bit deeper.

On our demotutorial project blog, earlier we have activated the “Akismet” plugins. This plugins is awesome! it could prevent up to more than 90% (actually some said that 99%, but I have never counted it myself) SPAM that coming into our blog.

The Akismet plugins is ready as a standard plugins. To activate it just go to plugins and find the Akismet on the list, and click the “activate”.

After you have done the step above, wordpress will tell you that the Akismet settings is almost ready, the next things you have to do to make this Akismet work is fill in your WordPress API key, you only have to do this once, and then you could use this key as you like.

Keep this API key only to yourself, save it on your PC so if you need it later, you can easily find it.

I assume you at this time you don’t have the API key yet, in this case, just follow the instruction provided by wordpress, and you will be given “get your API from Wordpress” link, you click that and you get the API keys/numbers, save it, and fill it. Here’s the screenshot of this process :

After all this steps completed, you Akismet is up and running, catch and trap almost (99%) of the spam that come to our blog

I must mention this again because it’s important, the API key that we have got, can be use on as many blog as you want ( you can build hundreds of blogs using that single API key).

To improve the protection, we can go to settings and then discussion. We’ve came to this in my previous post, but again, I go a bit deeper to make SPAM protection better.
